Just don’t get livebearers (i.e. mollies, platys, guppies).

Don’t put two male bettas together, and don’t put a male with a female because he will torture her trying to breed and will probably kill her.

I have a tropical community tank that is 40 gallons. I have never had any of my fish lay eggs (that I know of, anyway) but here’s what I have together:

    Australian Rainbowfish
    Boesmani Rainbowfish
    Opaline Gourami
    Blue Gouramis
    Pink Kissing Gouramis
    Yoyo Loach
    Rainbow Shark

Blood parrot fish. Im selling 3 of them. They are big 9-10 inches. They are very beaufiful and dont breed becuase they are hybrid.

Neon tetras tend not to breed. In fact, it’s very difficult to breed them. Did you know most are caught in the wild? =O

Also, clown loaches are good. They take about 50 years to mature (yeah. Long time) and only breed when fully mature, and even then, it’s hard to breed them. However, you’ll need a big tank if you plan to keep them for that time.

try clown loaches, those are impossible to breed

Any fish other than livebeareres won’t breed unless you make them, even if you keep them in mixed groups. This includes all tetras, cichlids, corydoras, rasboras, gouramis, bettas…

neons don’t usually breed, neither do barbs, harlequins, sharks, just stay clear of guppies, mollies, corys, platys, if you ask you local pet store, they should tell you :) good luck!

don’t get guppies. we brought some home and an hour after there where babies. i suggest you get beta fish, you can have a male and some females and they rarely give birth in captivity if you want two males in the same tank you have to have ten females per male. but you could have different tanks.
