New 10 gallon tank yippee what to fill her up with?

well for my 15th birthday my mother was so kind to get me a 10 gallon aquarium, i was supposed keep piranhas in my new aquarium but when i got a ten gallon i was like aww man i cant keep them in anything smaller than a 75 gallon:( but im still thrilled to have yet another aquarium^-^ but what to keep in it? im very professional in fish keeping for my age, i currently own a 30 gallon tropical aquarium, and ive been keeping fish since age five(yes many fish went into the experience) but ive got this 10 gallon box right here and no idea what to put in it, i already have a betta, headlights, zebra danios, neons, hatchet fish, and balloon mollys in my 30 gallon paradise, so i really do not want anymore. i was thinking about my first saltwater aquarium, but im not sure of the idea:/ i would like something unusual, exotic and just cool, but what hmm…. shoudl i go for saltwater?
actually no, ive never had dwarf puffers but i have always seen them at the aquatics store and wanted them so badly. you think 10 gallons is okay for the puffs?
okay, no saltwater tank untill i move out and get my own house, but the brakish tank has really intrested me

Why don't you beginners do a little research on your problems before asking basic questions.?

Just a quick search on Google or Ask will help immensely. Also, go to "About.com" for info on setting up and maintaining a fresh OR saltwater aquarium.

Betta is pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah.

Goldfish need cold water… 60-65 degrees.

Tropical fish need warm water…. 72-80 degrees, depending on the fish species.
BTW, warpig, Beta is the third letter of the Greek alphabet and IS pronounced bay-tah, Betta is the fish and IS pronounced bet-tah.

Question about red platys.?

I love aquatic life. I have had a saltwater aquarium for some time now. They are great fish and very clean too. When I was young, I had gold fish. I am interested in getting a freshwater tank as well as my saltwater one. I think the red platy fish is a beautiful tropical freshwater fish. Every time I got to the pet store to eye them up, I notice they are always pooping. My saltwater fish (damselfish and clownfish) are very discrete when they poop. I see them go once a month ( I know they go more, but I just don’t see it happen) and it is never dirty in their tank. I know they have a lot more filtration with the live rock and sand and the filter. So my main question would be, do platy fish defecate a lot, are they dirty fish, how can I best keep this tank clean if I choose to get them and are their any invertebrate that can live with them to help keep it clean beyond the means of just a filtration system?

What tank to move to next?

In my time ive dealt with koi carp, silver sharks, tropical tank set ups with guppies and neons. I now have a 54 litre tank with 4 fancy goldfish and really want to get back into owning fish full time. Im planning on getting a huge aquarium for the front room maybe 5ft by 2 ft tank but im not sure what set up to go for. I already have a coldwater tank and not sure whether to go for a tropical aquarium or a saltwater aquarium. What does it take to look after a saltwater aquarium? and what equipment differs from tropical and coldwater tanks??
