Fish Care: Setting Up And Maintaining An Aquarium – Part 2

An old programme hosted by Joe Yaiullo made in the late 80s covering the essentials for setting up a freshwater aquarium. Also covers a variety of tropical fish types, basic maintenance, and how a wet/dry filter works. I decided to upload this because I got tired of watching all the so called “expertvillage” videos with all their inaccurate, misleading information. This segment is far better in terms of properly educating potential aquarists. No copyright issues intended! I just wanted to share an educational video.

Community Fish Tank: 20 Gallon Fresh Water Aquarium

Community Fish Tank: Fresh Water Aquarium This is the Catspit Productions fresh water community aquarium or fish tank. It is about 8 months after the first aquarium video was posted. Since then I have had to remove all live plants due to fish eating them. They just wouldn’t let them grow. I also had a bout with ick and lost several fish over time. That was ok because I wanted to add better fish. So this is the new and improved aquarium. This tank is a 20 gallon, high with 2 Aquaclear outboard or hanging filters. One filter is a #70 or 300 gallons per hour filtration and it is set up like a normal filter with carbon, ammo carb, and filter medium. The second filter is a #50 or a 150 gallon per hour filtration. This smaller unit is set up with activated charcoal only. This is like a booster for clarity and toxins. This tank is about 2 and 1/2 years old and has been moved once. With a plecostomus and catfish, the tank is literally self cleaning. The filters are cleaned and changed once every month and that is all. Very easy maintenance. The light is a standard fluorescent tube that is left on for daylight simulation and turned off for night mode. The light is set on a timer. A few of the fish are over 2 years old and have been with the tank since the beginning. Gourami (trichogaster trichopterus) – Tropical Fish Profile

This is the first in the series of upcoming Fish Profiles. This film focuses on the Gourami. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I would like to point out that this film is supposedly meant to be more cinematic than factual. If you have any comments on this please say.
