how old do some of the tropical fish have to be before the can breed?

i have a mixture of tropical community fish and i have mates for almost all of them and so far i have no luck and my water temp is good and i keep and eye on them and i have plants but still no babies what can i do .is thier anything else i can try

I'm a beginner when it comes to fish. I have a Chinese Algae eater and I'd like to get him some tank mates.?

The tank I have is an Eclipse Hex 5 and the water stays at about 79 degrees Fahrenheit. I was thinking of getting a couple of Neon Tetras to put in there, but I’ve read that Chinese Algae eaters can be aggressive. Grover (the Algae eater) has had his own tank now for about two and a half weeks and he’s quite active in there. I don’t want to get him some friends only to come home and find that he’s eaten the other fish because they swam too close to his rock. I’d really like to get a few more fish in there, but the tank is on the small side. I don’t want to be accused of fish abuse for getting a fish that needs more room. Although I’ve heard that Betta fish are great for my style of tank, I do not want a passive fish. I would also like to avoid guppies because of the whole eating the babies thing. Any ideas?
First off, my bad. It’s a Siamese algae eater, not a Chinese. Like I said I’m new to the fish game and I don’t know what I have. I inherited the little guy from a relative who passed recently. He seems to be fine in his tank, but like I said, is there anything friendly that I can put as a tank mate?

Questions about Guppies? (Pictures included)?

Hi! I am going to have a 10 gallon tank. I was going to keep Guppies and Platies in their. They would have to be all male because I don’t have room for breeding. But, then I heard that the male Guppies can sometimes fight with the male Platies… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRP1hThJLBk

So, then my next thought was just to get an all guppy tank. I really like the fancy tailed guppies. The guppies at the pet store I go to look like this:

Except with a solid color tail. Those tails don’t really look "fancy" to me… is that just because they are babies? Will the tail grow out nicely like these?

Also, another example is if you scroll down I like C, not K:

Finally, my last few questions:
1. If I have all males, will they fight?
2. I cannot risk having all females, one could already be pregnant
3. How many guppies could I keep in a 10 gallon?

THANKS! :) Thank you all so much! =)
Ok, thank you AnimalGirl! I will be sure not to get all males. You mentioned that they fancy tails are commonly sold at pet stores, DO they look like the first picture, or are they just labeled "Fancy Tail"

Thanks again!
Alright… now I’m confused because Gary C says I can keep male Guppies together…

PARROT FISH GUARDING THEIR EGGS

My pair of Parrot fish guarding their eggs, Unfortunatly due to the eggs being in-fertile they ate them the next day :-(

How do you breed most tropical fish?

What are the condition should i move some fish out?

Do they lay eggs then are fertalized?
Can you see the eggs?

other than sea dragons is there any way for the fish to have the eggs in their stumach and press the babies out?
